Vaccines

What is Vaccines?

Vaccines have become a life-saving intervention in the last 100 years of medical research. There is a vast range of vaccines available across pediatric and adult age groups which help us keep away from serious infections, disabilities and cancers.

Vaccines are biological substances designed to protect individuals from infectious diseases by stimulating the body’s immune system to recognize and fight specific pathogens, such as viruses or bacteria. They typically contain weakened or inactivated parts of a particular microorganism, or a blueprint for producing antigens, which trigger an immune response without causing the disease itself. Once vaccinated, the immune system “remembers” the pathogen, allowing it to respond more rapidly and effectively if exposed in the future. Vaccines play a crucial role in preventing outbreaks, reducing the spread of contagious diseases and protecting public health.

Following are the adult vaccines recommended to prevent diseases.

Influenza: For respiratory flu and pneumonia

Shingles vaccine: To prevent Shingles

Hepatitis B vaccine: For prevention of Liver cirrhosis and Liver cancer

Pneumococcal vaccine: For again flu, brain infection and pneumonia.

HPV vaccine: To prevent Cancer of cervix
